"I envy those who have a perfect coca cola bottle-like body because they can wear swimsuits whenever they want to. While here I am, just sitting at the other side of the beach watching them in my rash guard."
A few years ago, I received that message on Instagram. A reader replied that to one of my photos where I was wearing a one-piece swimsuit. I felt really bad after reading this because I feel like social media has set the standards of beauty when in fact, not all we see in the Internet is real.
"I wish I had the same body as yours so I'd be confident in wearing swimsuits. I don't have stretch marks but I have a lot of fats in my body! Lol. Enough reason to not wear a bikini," she adds.
To be honest with you guys, I don't have the perfect body and there are days that I really wish I have Kelsey Merritt's figure because who doesn't want to have a Victoria's Secret Angel-like body, right?
But really, what's a "perfect" figure? A size 0 or a waistline of 24? Who said that anyway? So what if you have tiger stripes on your butt? Or flat chest and bloated tummy? Just because you have these doesn't mean you shouldn't wear swimsuits.
If you're someone who's not comfortable with your body shape, this swimsuit guide is for you! I've rounded up a few tips on how to look good on swimwear even without burning calories:
1. Fall in love with your swimsuit
First things first, apply the general rule when shopping: don't buy it just because it's on sale. Buy it because you feel good in it. Don't easily fall on the hard selling skills of a saleslady. Don't buy it just because it’s the hottest style right now. Get it because you feel good in it. You can’t expect to feel confident in a swimsuit if you don’t love what you’re wearing.
2. Accessorize
After picking your swimsuit, choose accessories or clothing pieces that match perfectly together. You can get a huge belt to hide your tummy. A scarf to hide your arms. Or a cover up if you're too shy to show some skin. Know the basic fashion and make the beach your runway.
3. Don't burn calories. Burn your negative thoughts!
Although it helps to burn calories as part of your healthy lifestyle, some of us are just too lazy to get up. So, what else can you do? Just don't think of negative things.
Life's too short to worry about what other people think.
You see, people will always have something to say about you so might as well enjoy the rest of your life without caring about their opinion.
So to all the girls who think swimsuits are just for a 26-24-26 figure, I say you don't have to lose weight to wear a bikini, okay?
Any body is a "beach body"
Anyone can be in a swimsuit and enjoy themselves at the beach, pool or even just in their rooms. Don't you just want to enjoy life freely? If you keep thinking about what others would say about you, you might one day wake up feeling terrible for not making the most of your vacation because you thought you have thick thighs and bloated tummy.
Sure the idea of wearing a swimsuit is really daunting especially if you lack the nerves but with the right amount of self-confidence and self-love, everything will be alright and you'll be surprised at how things might end. Just do it, girl.

Why would you settle for a basic cover-up when you can pull-off a whole tropical aesthetic look? Trust me, there are so many beach outfit ideas that go far beyond swimsuits and sunnies! So if you're looking for a little something more, then this beach outfit inspiration is for you! World, meet the perfect breezy maxi dress perfect for the beach! Wearing maxi dress at the beach could save your comfort and beach fashion life!
Another thing I love about beach maxi dress is that, it is perfect for any summer occasion. All I need is to just add a good pair of slides then I'm all set.
One con that I experienced wearing maxi dress at the beach is that, I need to pull it up or hold it when I need to pass through the water because I don't want it to get wet. This won't be an issue to people who don't mind. But overall, a beach maxi dress is the perfect beach outfit!
What's your favorite beach outfit? :)

Oftentimes, the photos we see online are either enhanced a little or deeply retouched especially when it comes to editorial magazines. So people need to realize that it is not always what it seems online and in glossy magazines.
Good thing, with the fashion industry inching towards representation of diversity, more brands and public figures have been embracing the authenticity of beauty.
Perhaps some would think that posting these photos takes a lot of courage because of my tiger stripes but to me, it's just another beach photo. I've never been ashamed of my stretch marks.
They may not be too appealing to others but to me, stretch marks are beautiful and it represents the truth. There's authenticity. Let's stop thinking about the "standards" of beauty and just learn to love your lines and your self completely.

Everything takes time and that's something our generation finds it a lot harder to adjust to. We expect things to go our way instantaneously. We expect to live the lives we chose. But it takes time. It always does.
Nobody got better overnight. For now, remember that every day that you have stood up is a step forward and you have survived many days.
Sometimes, waiting can be difficult because we don't have any idea what lies ahead. But when you are patient and you wait your turn, great things can happen and you'll be glad you took your time.

Bikini body paranoia has been with almost all the ladies out there especially during the hot season because hey, summer is about beaches and bums... Or so we thought?
If you don't feel your best shape right now and you're itching to wear a swimsuit out on the beach, I think I just found the answer to that. If you're not that confident to wear a two-piece swimsuit, go for the one-piece!
Here, I'm wearing a one-piece swimsuit from H&M. It has a two-side cutouts that create a sexy-figure illusion when worn. This style helps you look sexier and achieve the curves you want.
You see, if you think you couldn't wear a swimsuit just because your body isn't an hourglass figure, then you're wrong. Anybody can wear whatever they want. Just put on your swimsuit and a dose of self-confidence, now you're good to go.
But hey, remember that confidence comes from within. A glossy magazine depicting thin models given by Sports Illustrated and angels of Victoria's Secret isn’t going to help.

When at the beach, you'll see two kinds of person: the one who loves splashing around in the waves and the one who loves to sip a smoothie while reading a good book under the sun.
Whichever you are, one thing's for sure—beach days are the best days, as they say. And you know what's even better? The right beach ootd for the 'gram. And by "right ootd," I mean wearing something over your swimsuit without looking overdressed at the island.
In this article, I'm going to let you in on secrets on how to be instagram-ready at the beach!
If you don't plan on swimming and your goal is to just snap a great photo, then you just need three (3) things to be Instagram-ready at the beach.
1. A CUTE BIKINI TOP
Who says swimsuits are for the water only? Sometimes, okay most of the time, it's meant for the corner of the beach under the shades of the palm trees.
2. MATCHING BOTTOMS
So you have the top already, now its time to look for the perfect bottom to pair it with. Here, I wore a white tennis skirt to look more casual and sporty. Aside from a skirt, you could also pair your bikini top with a high-waisted trousers.
3. ACCESSORIES
Add some interest by wearing the right accessories. Here I wore a pair of large gold hoops, dainty layered necklaces and a silk scarf.

And I want you know that.
You deserve someone who sees your value, a person who knows your worth and reaches your standards no matter how high they are. You deserve a person who listens to you; to your little silly stories and remember even the smallest details you mention.
You deserve someone who compromises with you; a person who can meet you halfway.
You deserve a person who will give you the time and affection you crave. Someone who will hold your hand, pull you and give the warmest hug ever and kiss you on the forehead. Also, a person who treats you with respect even during the most intense fights, who wouldn't insult you or call you names.
You deserve all the clarity you need, someone who wouldn't send mixed signals that will confuse you because if that person is the right one, he will let you know.
You deserve a person who cares, a person who will treat you like a princess. Someone who will go their way just to pick you up or drive you home even in the most inconvenient time.
You deserve nothing but the best because you are worth it.
This set was taken at Guyam Island in Siargao, one of the calmest and beautiful islands I've been to. Whenever I'm traveling to a new place, I always make it a point that one of the outfits I'll wear should be pink, hence, ending with the swimsuit I'm wearing here.
I've never been the one who always follow the "fashion rules." I wear whatever makes me happy and that includes my favorite color, pink. My favorite color never fails to brighten my day and make me feel like the most joyful version of myself, whether I’m wearing an all-pink look or incorporating just a touch of it into an outfit.
The next time I post, I'll be sharing some of the good places to explore in Siargao. Be sure to keep updated here and on my other social media accounts! ;)

At 15, I was sure about what I want to be when I grow up. I wanted to be a writer. I wanted to work for a magazine. Thus, I studied Journalism.
When I turned 20, I got my first job at one of the leading TV Networks in the Philippines to be part of a magazine even before I march on the graduation stage. I was an Editorial Assistant turned contributing writer. God knows how extremely happy I was when I got to work for a magazine, not for my dream company but still, it's for a magazine.
I did everything I said I would. I did everything I thought I wanted. I did everything people expected me to do. I thought, I was already contented that I got to fulfill one of my biggest dreams. But the excitement and proud moments of seeing your byline wears off.
So, I took a leap and found myself in the field I said I'd never do, ever. I was too brave that time, I wasn't afraid to enter a new path even if that meant a whole new world. I got in to a world I'm clueless about. And surprisingly, I'm still here. My bosses liked my work, some even praised me for it so I thought, maybe I'm good at this. I enjoyed those moments and those matter to me a lot.
People often praise me for knowing a lot of things. Sure I can do a lot—I write, I shoot, edit photos, basic graphics, style, do hair and makeup, etc.—but I'm not sure where I'm really good at and that confused me.
At 23, I discovered that my achievements were not enough to sustain me because it lacked soul and passion. All of that ambition, all of my accomplishments, and all of the hard work was not for me to feel good but for me to look good. In a way, it really didn’t feel like me at all.
I've come a long way, they say. But to me, I'm far from the best. There are other people at my age who has achieved more than I did. So I began to question who I was, who I am. Until I lost myself at 23.
But you know what, I've come to realize that not everything is for you, and the willingness to give up on that which you are not meant for isn’t failure, it’s a sign that you actually love yourself enough not to get stuck in a life you don’t really want.
As I enter 24 today, I'm slowly learning to just let things be. I will try not to dwell on my mistakes but rather focus on my achievements no matter how small or big they are. I'm going to do what I have to do until I can do what I want to do. I'll create the life that I want.
