How to Become a Better You

Growing up, I was always self-conscious to the point that I want to be someone else, to look as good as the pretty girls I see in fresh pages of the magazines. But I was afraid to try a new style. I was so comfortable at how I looked, but deep inside, I know that I want more. My fifteen year-old self thought that I don't want to be just another girl in the room. I wanted to stand out. And that's when I decided to try something new. I tried to change myself.

I changed my hairstyle, I updated my wardrobe based on what's trendy as seen in the glossy papers, and by doing so, I gained praises, thus, I gained so much confidence. 

And so you see these beauty or fashion editorials in magazines with flawless-looking models, you get insecure, wishing (and really hoping) that you would look like them, but really, who looks like that in reality? Oh girl, what are concealers and photoshop for? In this day and age, it seems unbelievable 

We live in a time where we feel we have to live by the unattainable standards of the society. We base our perception of ourselves from the likes we get from Instagram or the shares on Facebook.  So what if girl #1 got 1,000 likes on her photo in just an hour; or girl #2 is at the top of her career at a very young age; or girl #3 is always MIA because she's busy traveling the world. Sure, these girls will leave you asking "what the hell am I doing with my life right now? Why can't I be like them?" None of these matter to be honest. 

Don't compare your behind the scenes with their highlight reel. Who knows? They might also be going through with something. They just choose to let the world see what they think is the highlight of their lives.

Appreciate who you are. Cherish what you have now. Take all the pain, insecurities and everything that's hurting you because they will make you stronger, bolder and braver than ever. Don't depend your happiness on others and especially on material things. Because at the end of the day, it's just you who could help yourself to feel better, to be better.

Instead of looking at other things and aspire to be something else, we should just be confident of who we are and make the most of what we have. 

So to brighten up the day, my outfit screams sun and joy, right? I know this romper is perfect for summer but hey, who says I couldn't wear it on a cold season? Besides, today was sunny and a great day to be out. Also, I'm loving my new pair of white platforms! Though it's elevated, it's very comfy when work 'cause it's like I'm not wearing heels at all.
